Tampa Bay Chapter: Alumni Playhouse

2020 Goblins and the Gravedigger

Backstage

Production

Author - Kenneth "Tack" Chumbley

Chumbley has enjoyed international success with his writings. Recently, this very show “The Goblins and the Grave-digger” was recorded by a cast in Ireland and was broadcast in eight countries on three continents over the Christmas holiday. It had a tremendous response. The radio script now being performed by the Tampa Bay Booster’s Alumni Playhouse won the Moondance International Film Festival radio play award for 2019 and the California International Shorts Film Festival award for 2019. It was one of the selections from around the world made by the UK International Radio Drama Festival 2020, which was wiped out by the virus. Chumbley has been asked to resubmit the show for 2021.

“I’m an FC grad, class of 73. Have preached for over 40 years, and started writing children’s stories about 10 years ago. My story The Green Children was the 2017 Literary Classics children’s storybook of the year. At the suggestion of another FC alumnus, I turned the story into a two-act musical, which has been produced in the US and Ireland.

I live where I’m from in east central IL, preach for a small church in a farming community, and am honored and so happy that the Tampa Bay chapter is doing my goblins show.”
